Tony Ko

Tony Ko, a native of Guangdong, China, is the second of three siblings and immigrated to the United States with his parents at the age of 5. His mother worked as a seamstress, while his father pursued a career as a chef. At the tender age of 7, Tony endured a tragic accident when he was struck by a drunk driver while residing in Chinatown, New York City, resulting in a coma that lasted approximately 5 months. Following his remarkable recovery, Tony's family relocated to South Brooklyn in pursuit of a safer environment.

From an early age, Tony has been deeply committed to serving and advocating for his local community. As a parent whose children attended NYC public schools, he intimately understands the challenges faced by students in such environments, fueling his passion for public service. Tony's extensive involvement in various community associations, coupled with his profound understanding of the district's diverse ethnic enclaves, inspired his decision to run for the position of District Leader in Brooklyn, New York.

When he is not managing his small business, Tony dedicates his free time to volunteer work at senior centers and assisting with park sanitation efforts. Moreover, Tony serves as a volunteer partner with the NYPD, working to enhance community safety, particularly in light of the increasing incidents of Asian hate crimes in recent years. These hate crimes resonate deeply with Tony, who himself was a victim of similar incidents during his youth. One notable case involved a Chinese student who was mugged and assaulted with a deadly weapon. Tony's involvement in aiding the victim's family and collaborating with law enforcement to apprehend the perpetrator underscores his commitment to justice and community safety.

Through his ongoing public service initiatives, Tony has emerged as a crucial liaison between the minority community and the NYPD. Having resided in Assembly District 49 for the majority of his life, Tony's values and actions are firmly rooted in the well-being and advancement of the district's residents. He pledges to tirelessly advocate for their support by actively listening, engaging, and empowering community members. The path forward is clear – it's time to vote for Tony Ko, the candidate dedicated to effecting positive change in Assembly District 49.
